THE PROCESS

  1. CONSULT // chat with Gareth about your needs, available time & goals

  2. GET TESTED // visit Gareth for Lactate &/or VO2 testing to set up your zones and custom program. (If you are not in LA then Gareth will coach you using whatever tools you have available to you)

  3. START TRAINING // Gareth will set-up your custom program and depending on the retainer level you choose, he will update, guide and monitor you through the training process

My life has been a life of sport. Soccer as a child, Cricket as a teen, Triathlon as an adult. A runner for over 40 years and a competitive cyclist since I was 22. IRONMAN, the marathon and everything in between. My father owed a gym when I was 7! I have lived and continue to live a life focused in sport and health every single day. Whatever you are going to feel and experience along your journey, I have likely personally felt and experienced myself at some point!   • All workouts are uploaded into TrainingPeaks software. These workouts can be downloaded into your smartwatch for in-workout guidance. Post workout data will automatically upload back to TrainingPeaks for review as per your coaching tier. Health & sleep data from your wearables will also upload to TrainingPeaks each day. Athletes can leave additional comments about energy, stress levels, travel, etc in the TrainingPeaks comments section. Interaction with Gareth is as per your coaching tier by voice & video calls, text, email, meets and workout sessions. All athletes are expected to train with a heartrate monitor and maintain a daily training journal. Most athletes train alone or with a small and controllable set of training partners who help maintain the accuracy and integrity of the custom training plan.

  • Not at all. Many of Gareth’s athletes live all around the world and travel frequently. Most travel to see Gareth for initial testing but when this is not possible, arrangements are made with other providers in your local area to compile all the necessary data.

  • The list of “possible” equipment is almost endless (!!) but the essentials are apparel and basic needs for swimming, cycling and running including a heart-rate monitor with chest strap. Ideally a Triathlon specific bike with power meter. An OURA ring or WHOOP to track sleep, an H-DROP sweat sensor and indoor bike trainer with power (such as Wahoo Kickr with ZWIFT). Access to machine and free-weight based strength training, track and treadmill. Recovery needs are also key with regular access to massage and health practitioners such as chiropractic. A budget for fuel and supplements.

  • Yes. Gareth’s interest is to work with driven individuals who are keen to hit their true potential and will invest in pursuit of the greatness within them.

  • Yes! The Triathlon lifestyle offers a superb way to stay fit and in prime condition. It’s something that Gareth personally lives every single day.
